Org Chart

The Org Chart shows your company structure as an interactive diagram: who reports to whom, and who belongs to which department. The company sits at the top, below it the management, and below that the further levels. You can click through the hierarchy, search, and filter by department.

What can I do here?

  • View the entire reporting structure of the company as a tree diagram
  • Expand and collapse individual branches, or open/close the whole structure with "Expand All" / "Collapse All"
  • Search for employees (by name, position, or department) — the match is highlighted and centered
  • Narrow the view down to a single department

The data comes from the employee records: each employee's "Manager" field determines their place in the tree.

Step by step

Find an employee

  1. Type a name, position, or department into the "Search employees..." field.
  2. After a brief moment, the first matching employee is highlighted and centered in the diagram.
  3. Clear the search field to remove the highlight.

Filter by department

  1. Open the "All Departments" dropdown.
  2. Select a department — the diagram then only shows the employees of that department.
  3. Select "All Departments" again to return to the full view. The filter is also stored in the address bar, so the view can be shared as a link.

Explore the structure

  1. Click the small expand/collapse dots below a person card to show or hide their direct reports. When the page opens, the top two levels are expanded.
  2. Use "Expand All" to make every level visible, or "Collapse All" for the compact view.

Fields explained

Each card in the diagram represents one employee:

Field Meaning Notes/Effect
Name First and last name of the employee Shown as plain text in the card
Position The employee's job title Shown below the name if maintained
Department Department membership as a colored badge Only shown if a department is set
Search employees... Search field in the toolbar Searches name, position, and department; the match is highlighted
All Departments Department filter Narrows the diagram to one department

Frequently asked questions

Why does an employee appear directly under the management even though they don't belong there?
Employees without a manager entry are automatically placed under the topmost person (the root of the tree). Maintain the "Manager" field in the employee record so the person appears in the right place.

How do I change an employee's reporting line?
Not here, but in the employee record: open the employee under "Employees", tab "Position", and select the manager there. The org chart picks up the change automatically.

Why is the diagram empty?
Either no employees have been created yet, or the selected department filter matches no one. Reset the filter to "All Departments".

Can I share the org chart with colleagues?
Yes — simply copy the address from the address bar. The search term and department filter are included, so colleagues see the same view.
