HR Analytics

The HR Analytics page gives you an at-a-glance view of how your workforce is developing: how many people you employ, how many have left, and how high absences are. All figures are calculated automatically from your existing HR data — there is nothing to maintain here, you only read the results. Every chart can also be downloaded as a spreadsheet file (CSV), for example for a presentation.

What can I do here?

  • Read the three key metrics: Total Headcount, Turnover Rate, and Absence Rate — each with a comparison to the prior period.
  • Follow the Headcount Over Time chart to see how team size per department has developed over the last 12 months.
  • Check the Salary Distribution to see how many employees fall into each salary band — anonymized, with no names and no individual salaries.
  • Download any chart via Export CSV and continue working with it in Excel or a similar tool.

Step by step

Check how team size has developed

  1. Open HR → Analytics.
  2. Look at the Headcount Over Time chart: each line represents one department, covering the last 12 months. Employees without an assigned department appear as their own line.
  3. Hover over a month to see the exact numbers per department.

Assess turnover and absences

  1. Look at the Turnover Rate and Absence Rate cards at the top. Below the percentage you see the Change versus the prior period in percentage points (pp): red means it went up (unfavorable), green means it went down (favorable).
  2. For details, scroll to the two detail cards further down: they show Current Period, Prior Period, plus — for turnover — the number of Terminations and the Avg. Headcount, and — for absences — Total Absence Days and Total Employees.

Download a chart

  1. Click Export CSV on the chart or card you need.
  2. Your browser downloads a CSV file you can open in Excel or any other spreadsheet tool. The salary distribution export deliberately contains no names — only bands, departments, and counts.

Fields explained

Field Meaning Notes/Impact
Total Headcount Number of employees in the most recent displayed month, summed across all departments. Also counts employees without a department.
Turnover Rate Share of employees who left the company in the last 12 months, relative to the average team size in that period. Comparison value: the 12 months before that.
Absence Rate Share of approved absence days in the current calendar year, relative to the available working time of all active employees (calculated with 250 working days per person per year). Only approved absences count. Comparison value: the previous year.
Headcount Over Time Chart of team size per department, month by month over the last 12 months. Employees without a department appear in their own category.
Current Period / Prior Period The metric for the running period and for the period before it. For turnover: 12 months each. For absence: current calendar year vs. previous year.
Terminations Number of employees whose employment ended in the current period. Basis of the turnover rate.
Avg. Headcount Average team size in the period (mean of headcount at the start and at the end). Denominator of the turnover rate.
Total Absence Days Sum of all approved absence days in the current year. Rejected or still-pending requests do not count.
Total Employees Number of employees active in the current year (including probation and on leave). Basis of the absence rate.
Salary Distribution Bar chart: how many employees fall into each annual salary band, broken down by department. Anonymized — names or individual salaries are never shown.
Export CSV Downloads the respective chart as a spreadsheet file. Opens in Excel and similar tools.

FAQ

Why doesn't Total Headcount match my own count?
The figure refers to the most recent displayed month and counts everyone employed in that month — including people without a department assignment. Employees who have already left stop counting from the month of their departure.

Can anyone see individual salaries via the Salary Distribution?
No. The chart only shows bands and counts per department — names or individual amounts are neither displayed nor exported.

Which absences go into the Absence Rate?
Only approved absence requests. Pending or rejected requests are not counted.

What does "pp" mean?
Percentage points. If a rate rises from 4% to 6%, that is a change of +2 pp.

Can I change the time period?
Not on this page: the trend chart and the turnover figures are fixed to the last 12 months, and the absence rate compares the current calendar year to the previous one. For flexible time periods, use HR Reports.

Instead of a metric I only see a yellow warning — what now?
That chart could not be loaded just now. Reload the page; if the problem persists, contact your administrator.
