Cost Centers
Cost centers show which budget/reporting area employees are assigned to — for example "Sales DACH" or "IT Infrastructure". Cost centers can be nested hierarchically (parent and child cost centers) and carry a budget as well as a list of assigned employees with their respective share.

Step by step
- Create a new cost center: Click "Create", assign a code (e.g. "CC-100") and a name, and optionally add a description, parent cost center, legal entity, budget and currency.
- Assign an employee: On a cost center, click the member count, choose "Add member", search for the employee and enter an allocation percentage (e.g. 100%).
- Switch between tree and flat view: Use the "Tree view"/"Flat view" buttons above the table.
- Remove an employee: In a cost center's member list, click the trash icon.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a cost center and a legal entity?
The legal entity is the legal company; a cost center is an internal budget/reporting unit within (or across) a legal entity, e.g. a department or a project.
Can an employee be assigned to more than one cost center?
Yes, the allocation percentage lets you represent an employee being split proportionally across several cost centers.
How do child cost centers work?
A cost center can have a parent cost center; in the tree view, branches can be expanded and collapsed.
