Onboarding & Offboarding

This page manages checklists for new employees (onboarding), departing employees (offboarding), and internal moves (transition). Each checklist is made up of individual tasks — for example "Provide laptop" or "Set up access" — which you define once as a template and then generate automatically for every employee going through the process.

What can I do here?

  • Create reusable templates for onboarding, offboarding, or transition, including a list of tasks.
  • Start a checklist from a template for a specific employee (with a start date).
  • Track the progress of a running checklist and mark individual tasks as done.
  • Cancel a checklist early.
  • See an at-a-glance dashboard: active templates, active/completed checklists, and overdue tasks.

Step by step

  1. Create a template — In the "Templates" tab, click "New Template", set the name, description, and type (Onboarding / Offboarding / Transition).
  2. Add tasks to the template — Open the newly created template and use "Add Task" to enter each task with a title, responsible party, due date (number of days relative to the start date), and optionally a category. Tasks can be marked as "Required".
  3. Start a checklist for an employee — In the "Active Checklists" tab, click "New Checklist", select a template and an employee, and set a start date. SELLERLOGIC Commerce Services automatically generates all tasks with their due dates from this.
  4. Track progress — Click a checklist in the list to see its individual tasks and mark open items as done with a click.

FAQ

How does the system know when a task is due?
Each task in a template has a number of days stored relative to the start date. When a checklist is started, SCS automatically calculates the exact due date for each task from this.

What happens if I skip a task instead of checking it off?
The task is marked "Skipped", shown struck through, and no longer counts as open — but it also does not count toward the "completed" progress.

Can I cancel a checklist that is already running?
Yes, as long as it has the "Active" status, you can end it using the cancel/trash icon.

Where can I see overdue tasks at a glance?
The "Dashboard" tab lists all overdue tasks separately, together with the employee's name and due date.

What's the difference between a template and a checklist?
The template is the reusable blueprint containing all tasks. The checklist is a concrete copy generated for one specific employee, in which progress is tracked.
