Customer Segments

Customer segments let you group your customers, for example "VIP Customers" or "New Customers". Segments can either be built up automatically from rules (dynamic) or maintained by hand (manual).

What can I do here?

  • View all segments with type (dynamic/manual), member count, conditions and status
  • Search segments and filter by type (dynamic/manual) or status (active/inactive)
  • Create a new segment: set name, description, color and priority
  • For dynamic segments, define conditions (e.g. "order count ≥ 5"), test them before saving, and see how many customers currently match
  • Recalculate a dynamic segment so its member list is up to date
  • Activate/deactivate or delete a segment
  • View metrics across all segments (total segments, active segments, total members, avg. members per segment)

Step by step

  1. Create a segment: Click "Create Segment", set name, description, color and priority on the "General" tab, and choose whether the segment is dynamic (rule-based) or manual.
  2. Define conditions (dynamic segments only): On the "Conditions" tab, add one or more conditions (e.g. order count, total spent, logged in, new customer, customer tag, customer group), and choose whether all conditions must match (AND) or at least one (OR).
  3. Test conditions: Use "Test Conditions" to check how many customers currently match the configured conditions before saving.
  4. Maintain the segment: From the row's action menu, a segment can be edited, recalculated (dynamic only), activated/deactivated, or deleted.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a dynamic and a manual segment?
A dynamic segment calculates its member list automatically based on the conditions you set (e.g. "total spent ≥ €500"). A manual segment has no such rule — membership is handled outside this condition logic.

Why does a dynamic segment show an outdated member count?
A dynamic segment's member list isn't continuously updated live — it reflects the last recalculation. Use "Recalculate" to refresh it.

What is the test button for conditions used for?
It lets you check, before saving, how many current customers would match the configured conditions.

What happens when I deactivate a segment?
The segment remains but is marked inactive and can be reactivated at any time.
