Blocked Numbers (Block as Spam)
On this page you manage all phone numbers that have been blocked as spam. Blocking a number adds it to the blacklist of your 3CX phone system and additionally records it here for auditing — with a comment, the blocking employee and the timestamp.
What can I do here?
- Block any phone number directly on this page, even when there is no call for it (with a mandatory comment)
- Block a caller's number directly from the call detail view as spam (with a mandatory comment)
- Search all blocked numbers and filter by status (Blocked, Unblocked, 3CX Error)
- Unblock a number again — it is removed from the 3CX blacklist while the history is retained for auditing
- See whether the block was successfully synced with 3CX
Step by step
Block a number directly on this page
- Open Calls → Blocked Numbers.
- Click "Block number" at the top right, above the list.
- Enter the phone number. Allowed are 5 to 20 digits, optionally with a leading + as well as spaces, hyphens, parentheses or slashes. If the entry does not match, a hint appears right below the field and the button stays inactive.
- Enter a comment (mandatory, at most 500 characters).
- Confirm with "Block number". The number appears in the list right away.
If the block could not be transferred to the phone system yet, a short notice appears: the number is blocked locally and the transfer to 3CX is still pending. Your block is never lost.
Block a number from a call
- Under Calls, open the relevant call (detail view).
- Click "Block as Spam" at the top right.
- Enter a comment in the dialog (mandatory, e.g. the reason for blocking).
- Confirm with "Block as Spam". The number is added to the 3CX blacklist and recorded here.
Unblock a number
- Open Calls → Blocked Numbers.
- Find the number in the list (use the "Blocked" status filter if needed).
- Click "Unblock" in the row.
- Optionally provide a reason. Confirm: the number is removed from the 3CX blacklist and marked "Unblocked".
- If unblocking fails, the dialog stays open and shows an error message. Please try again in that case.

Values & status
The Status field (enum blocked_number_status) can take these values:
- Blocked (
active): The number is actively blocked. - Unblocked (
unblocked): The block was lifted; the row is retained as history. - 3CX Error (
3cx_error): The number was blocked locally, but the transfer to the 3CX blacklist failed. The block remains locally and can be re-synced later.
Frequently asked questions
Why is a comment mandatory?
The comment documents, in an auditable way, why a number was blocked. Together with your name and the timestamp it is also written into the description of the 3CX blacklist entry.
What happens if 3CX is temporarily unreachable?
The block is still saved locally and marked with the "3CX Error" status. Your audit record is never lost; the transfer to the phone system can be retried later.
Who may block and unblock numbers?
Employees with the "Manage telephony" permission (crm:telephony:manage) or with the overarching CRM management permission (crm:manage). The plain list is already visible with CRM read permissions.
I can see the list but no buttons for blocking or unblocking.
Then your role is missing both management permissions. Please contact your administration; read permissions alone show the list but do not allow changes.
