Accessibility

This page controls how accessible your storefront is for visitors with disabilities — for example people who navigate with a keyboard instead of a mouse, or who need larger text. The settings follow the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines.

What can I do here?

  • Enable a "skip navigation" feature for keyboard users
  • Turn on a high-contrast mode and a visible focus indicator
  • Offer font-size scaling with a minimum/maximum value
  • Require that images have alt text
  • Add a link to your accessibility statement

Step by step

  1. Open "Accessibility" in the sidebar.
  2. In the "Navigation" section, enable skip navigation so keyboard users can jump straight to the main content.
  3. In the "Visual" section, turn on high contrast and the focus indicator if needed.
  4. In the "Typography" section, enable font-size scaling and set a minimum and maximum in percent.
  5. In the "Content" section, decide whether alt text is required for images.
  6. In the "Legal" section, enter the URL of your accessibility statement and click "Save" at the bottom.

Frequently asked questions

What does WCAG 2.1 AA mean?
It's an internationally recognized standard for accessible websites. The settings on this page help you implement common requirements of that standard in the storefront.

Do I need to enable every option?
No. You can turn each feature on or off individually, depending on what makes sense for your shop. That said, certain accessibility requirements are legally mandatory in many markets (e.g. the EU).

What happens if an image has no alt text while the requirement is enabled?
The image is flagged with a warning wherever it appears so you can fix it — the storefront keeps working regardless.
