Templates (SCS Sign)
You shouldn't have to rebuild a recurring signature process — like a standard contract you regularly send to new customers — from scratch every time. A template saves an envelope's documents, recipient roles, and field layout, so you can generate a new draft from it in just a few clicks.
What can I do here?
- View all existing templates with the number of roles, documents, and fields
- Create a new envelope draft from a template
- Delete a template you no longer need
Step by step
Create a template
- Open an already-sent or completed envelope under Envelopes.
- Click Save as Template, give it a name and optionally a description.
- The template captures the documents used, the recipient roles (as placeholders, without specific names/emails), and the field layout.
Use a template
- Open Templates and click Use on the template you want.
- Give the new envelope a name.
- For each role defined in the template, enter the actual recipient (name, email, language).
- Click Fill Recipients and Create Draft — you'll be taken to the new draft, which you can review and send as usual.
Delete a template
- Click Delete on the template you want, and confirm the dialog.
- The template is permanently removed; envelopes already created from it are unaffected.

Frequently asked questions
Does using a template immediately send an envelope?
No, it only creates a new draft first. You can still review and adjust it like any other draft before sending.
Does an already-created template change if I later edit the original envelope?
No, a template is an independent copy taken at the time it was saved, and is not affected by later changes to the original envelope.
Who is allowed to delete templates?
Deleting templates requires a higher permission level than just using them — not everyone who can use templates can also remove them.
